Welding process employed is GTAW for root-pass and SAW for final pass with suitable filler wires as prescribed by AWS specifications and ASME boiler and pressure vessel code, section IX.
For smaller quantities or material grades where either coils or plates in full random length is not available, pipes are manufactured by rolling so as to generate one full length of 5 to 7.5 meters by circ seam welding in diameter range of 20" to 42" NB.
The pipe weld are further examined by radiography as per the requirements of international standards.
Solution annealing at required temperature is carried out for pipes up to 20" NB. For sizes in higher diameter range, pipes are manufactured from plates which have been solution annealed.
Final product is subjected to hydro-testing for all pipes and mechanical and chemical check analysis on random sample basis as required by the standards.
For specific requirements, charpy impact test, (up to minus 1960 C) on welds also can be carried out, either at weld procedure qualification of final product stage, as per customer's requirements. All pipes are delivered in pickled/passivated condition with plain ends or bevelled ends as per customer's requirements. |
